Volume 19 Number 1                                                                                                                                                        January 2009

Local 674    -    American Federation of Musicians

Quarter Notes

Greetings to my colleagues! Local 674 has enjoyed a great year in 2008. We have had excellent meetings and we are in good financial shape due to our recent growth in membership as well as some innovations regarding work dues.

Speaking of work dues, it is that time again. First, I am pleased and grateful to report that 2008 work dues for all players at Greenbrier Valley Theatre and Carnegie Hall have been paid as well as those for "The Washington Street Strutters" and the "West Virginia Jazz Orchestra." Members should not include work dues for performance in these venues or groups. Leaders and players working in other venues and with other groups are urged to submit work dues as soon as possible. And, thanks again to Gary Williams for working with the State Fair to collect work dues from groups working at the fair.

I look forward to seeing all of you on February 15; we should have an interesting and most positive meeting. Happy Holidays!

                                                  Joe Buttram

The first quarterly meeting of Local 674 will be held on Sunday,  February 15, 2009 at 1:30 PM in  Lewisburg, WV at the Greenbrier Valley Theatre.    Light refreshments and beverages provided.   Please plan to attend.

Yes, this is a change from our normal third Sunday of the first month of the quarter meeting date, but our president, Joe, has a travel theater gig.                                                                                                        Way to Go Joe!

  Meeting

I have enclosed a dues mailer for your 2009 dues.  The dues for Local 674 remain at ninety-nine dollars ($99.00).  Also, keep in mind that the membership at a recent meeting lowered the maximum (caps) on work dues from $150.00 to $100.00 for our members who do a lot of work. So the most any member will pay in total fees for the year will be $199.00.
